On the 1st of October, the professional training in palliative care could be concluded after a ten months’ delay. The reason for being late was the outbreak of the pandemic in March last year, that is, at a point in time when the start of the course with its 160 hours of training was planned. As a certified course leader it was a special concern for me to not simply change round the weeks of training to formats of e-learning. Consequently, much patience and understanding was necessary for its continuation, and that meant for all involved: the participants, the teachers, the employers and last not least the course leader. But now the work is done, even though some important additional events had to be cancelled; it was, for instance, not possible to visit a synagogue or a musk as we usually did. The day before the last course day, two platforms for different methodical accesses to central problems of palliative care were held. They were meant for repetition and control of learning but also for exchange, advice, and the experience of being appreciated by the group of the course. The last day was dedicated to a colloquium where the participants could present in the plenum the results of their practical project works. The demanding choice of subjects and the overall very good presentations reflected the high level of this course.
The great joy and relief at the successful conclusion are shown in the final photograph, taken on the terrace of the seminar room of the academy Franz-Hitze-Haus in Münster.
