Dear Readers,
„With the scent of acacias, spring comes flying into your astonishment”, thus a poem entitled “Spring” starts. The author is none other than Rose Ausländer, born like Paul Celan in Czernowitz and whose 120th birthday was on the 11th of May. In the middle of the heavy load and the worries caused by the pandemic, these words sound different to me this year, perhaps somewhat greater, deeper. It fills me with amazement, if I may say so, how much in hospice work not only was possible but turned out well in a special way despite the restrictions. The subjects under the three headings should serve as an example. I would like to emphasize the just published work on palliative nursing, a practically oriented textbook in Ukrainian suitable both for instruction and practice. What a joy! “The perfume of the lilac so young for us”, Rose Ausländer writes at the end of the poem. Yes, that hits the point.
I greet you with all my heart
Andreas Stähli
